Recognizing Modern Slavery

SLAVERY, as chattel slavery, in America no longer exits. But what of the other forms of human exploitation. Occasionally we read in newspapers or television of some poor person forcibly held, as a servant of some sort, not allowed to leave, to meet and have friends nor enjoy basic humane rights as any other American. The manipulators use various social persuasions to bring these people under their control; at times, saying it is for their own good or betterment. So that person never attempts to go to school, to get a job thinking this is the right thing to do, for themselves and everybody, ‘Community,’ etc. If you have any accomplishment, or association they will attempt to claim you saying, he is our representative. A key word used instead of servant [slave], is ‘available.’ What good to you are your life sacrifices if they cannot be enjoyed by you and your children, and your children’s children. Especially if Allah has blessed you to live and love those children, some who witnessed your struggle, pursuing an education, working etc. so they will know that these are some of the things they will need to make life better, to make a future for themselves. Trying to give whats good in life and let them know they can achieve whatever they put their minds to. But unfortunately, you can have a phd, good paying job and can still be subject to manipulations that force you to be “available.”

ISLAM: Essential Beliefs
ISLAM: Essential Beliefs.
On the authority of Abu ‘Abd ar-Rahman ‘Abdullah, the son of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattib (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say:
Islam has been built on five [pillars]: (Iman) to testify that there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer (As-Salat), paying charity (Az-Zakat), making the pilgrimage to the House (Hajj), and fasting (As-Sawm) in Ramadan.
It was related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Essentials of Belief:
- Iman (Belief): to bear witness that ; there is none worthy of worship but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
أشْهَدُ أنْ لآ إلَهَ إلاَّ اللهُ وَ أشْهَدُ أنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ
Ash-hadu an-laa ilaaha ill-Allahu, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan
‘Abdu-hu wa Rasuuluhu.
- To establish Salah (prayer; five times a day at designated times).
- To pay Zakat (charity).
- To fast the month of Ramadan.
- To perform the Hajj to the Ka’bah at Makkah (once in your lifetime, if you are physically and financially able).
The Religion of Al-Islam has five essential creeds that are mentioned in the above hadith. The first creed, or pillar of the faith is to testify that “There is no god but Allah: Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” This, ‘belief’ must be joined with action, these actions Iman (Belief), As-Salat, Az-Zakat, As-Sawm, and Hajj), are actions that manifest our belief in Allah. When we implement these into our lives we are able In-sha-Allah to receive mercy from Allah; [see Quran 24:55-56].

Allah Forgives
Narrated Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri رَضِىَ اللهُ عَىْهُ : The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ سَلَّمَ said, “If a person embraces Islam sincerely, then Allah shall forgive all his past sins, and after that starts the settlement of accounts: the reward for his good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times for each good deed, and an evil deed will be recorded as it is unless Allah forgives it.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadith No. 40 A).
Thanks be to Allah! ألْحَمْدُ لِلهِ
I thank Allah (GOD) for allowing me to be a Muslim seeking to earn HIS pleasure in this life and the next life. I thank Allah for the guidance HE revealed to Mankind, and I thank HIM for HIS prophet Muhammad to whom HE revealed HIS Message صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ سَلَّمُ .
I also thank Allah for those who have given their lives for this deen, the companions of the prophet Muhammad as well as those who emulate him and them to this day, allowing me and others to be able to learn the religion as Allah Most High gave HIS servant Muhammad to be “the” example and role model for all that truly seek to please Allah and earn the blessings of Paradise in the Hereafter. ألْحَمْدُ لِلهِ . I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is HIS last servant and messenger.
“All Praise belongs to Allah Who has sent to HIS Servant the Book, and has allowed therein no Crookedness: (HE has made it) Straight (and Clear), in order that HE may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from HIM, and that HE may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward. Wherein they shall remain forever: Further that HE may warn those (also) who say “Allah hath begotten a son”: No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying. What they say is nothing but falsehood!”
(Quran 18:1-5)
